Aims & Activities
Nehemiah is a residential project for men with a history of addiction, which is frequently rooted in childhood abuse and/or neglect, poverty, the care system, homelessness and offending. Through our residential programme we give them the opportunity to address their addictive behaviour patterns in a structured and supportive environment and make new and informed decisions about the future. Our 12-week psycho-social programme on weekday mornings at our house in Streatham, helps the men address different fundamental issues such as accommodation, employment, further education/vocational training, and essential life skills (including communication, and coping strategies). Together with their keyworker, men are encouraged to set personal goals for the future and supported in working towards these. Once men have graduated from the programme, they can progress to our move-on house in Clapham, where they are supported in looking for work and creating a new life for themselves.
