This summer, Norwood JunkAction is delighted to launch MOSAKTION, an exciting new community project supported by the Croydon Loves You Fund.

Together with local mosaic artist Corin Ashleigh Brown, Holmesdale Community Gardens, Stanley Arts, and with the support of Southern Housing, we'll be transforming discarded materials into a series of permanent 3D mosaic sculptures for our community.

More than an art project, MOSAKTION is an opportunity to slow down, spend time outdoors, meet new people, and discover the creative possibilities hidden in everyday materials. Whether you've been part of Norwood JunkAction for years or you're joining us for the first time, everyone is welcome.

What to expect:

Throughout the summer, we'll be running a series of free activities where you can join one session or the whole programme.

🗑️ Community Litter Picking

Help us collect interesting discarded materials from around South Norwood while meeting local people and learning more about the project.

 🎨 Mosaic Workshops

Working alongside Corin Ashleigh Brown, you'll learn mosaic techniques and help transform reclaimed materials into colourful three-dimensional sculptures.

Our first workshop will take place at Holmesdale Community Gardens, where we'll begin experimenting with materials and developing ideas together. The following workshops will be held at Stanley Arts, where we'll continue creating the sculptures as a group.

No previous experience is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to get creative!

🌼 Community Celebration

The project will culminate with the installation of the completed sculptures at Holmesdale Community Gardens, celebrating everyone's creativity and contribution.

 Why mosaics?

For centuries, mosaics have symbolised healing by transforming many small, broken pieces into something beautiful.

MOSAKTION takes inspiration from this idea, celebrating how creativity, imagination and community can bring people together. Just like a mosaic, every participant brings something unique, and together we create something far greater than any individual piece.
