We would like to invite you to come to Ashburton Library's first ever Disability History Month Talk on Monday 18th November at 11am.
The theme is Livelihood and Employment, and the speaker is Thines Ganeshamoorthy. Thines is a Senior Strategy and Policy Advisor working for the UK Civil Service.
Thines has a rare genetic disease known as Osteogenesis Imperfecta/Brittle Bone Disease and uses his lived experience to support the improvement of care and support for those with the condition through his work with the Brittle Bone Society where he is trustee.
During this talk, Thines will share his experiences of growing up with a disability and his experience of entering and navigating the world of work. He will share some of the ways he challenged assumptions and stereotypes around disability to get through his teens whilst also managing his condition and experiencing hundreds of fractures.
