Entrepreneurial Adventures will take young people with learning disabilities on a 12-month journey to develop skills and gain real-world entrepreneurial experience. Delivered in partnership with Good Food Matters, Croydon Mencap, and Knowledge and Practice, the project supports participants at a pivotal stage in their lives.
With only around 4.8% of adults with a learning disability currently in employment, this project aims to address the gap by equipping young people with practical skills and hands-on experience in catering, alongside an introduction to the entrepreneurial side of running a business.
Participants will channel their inner chefs while training in professional kitchens and gaining catering experience; preparing and serving food at Croydon Athletic home games and operating pop-up cafés in local parks.
By the end of the programme, participants will have gained meaningful business experience, supported by accredited training in allergens from the Food Standards Agency and a Level 1 qualification in food hygiene.
