We provide safe accommodation for any woman and her children (boys must be under the age of 12) who is experiencing domestic abuse, or who is at risk of abuse.
Before we provide a space in the refuge, we have a telephone conversation with the woman involved to be sure that we can provide the support she needs.
To ask for a place in a refuge, women can either be referred by an agency or call directly BCWA. Rent is paid weekly, and can be paid through housing benefit if you’re eligible. You will need to pay a small additional charge for services, such as light, heating, etc.
If you aren’t entitled to benefits and don’t have any other way to pay rent, please contact us for further advice.
