Coping with lockdown restrictions over the last few months has proved challenging for many people. Sadly, some have had to endure this coupled with dealing with the loss of a loved one. Grief can be a difficult experience to go through and The Carers Information Service has provided counselling and emotional support to carers over the last few months who have been affected by bereavement. If you have lost someone close to you, there is no need to feel alone, our group and one-to-one services are here for you. If you feel you would benefit from telephone counselling support, please contact our Carers Bereavement Counsellor (details below) for further information and advice.
New monthly bereavement café themed sessions via zoom
The Bereavement Cafe is somewhere you can speak freely and share stories with others coping with losing a loved one. It is a space to talk about the pain of loss but also to find courage and strength in knowing you are not alone. Here it is ok to cry and laugh, to be angry or frightened. You may be more of a talker or better at quietly listening. Sometimes it’s good just to have a cup of tea and hear people’s stories. Each session covers a different theme around bereavement. Anyone who has experienced the loss of someone close to them, no matter how recent or long ago, is welcome to join. The café is not bereavement counselling and is facilitated by our Carers Bereavement Counsellor. Sessions will be held on the first Tuesday of every month from 2.30pm to 4pm.
Our next café will be on Tuesday 6 October and will focus on remembering and missing the person you cared for and the emotions this creates for you.
For the zoom invitation link and further information on future themes and dates, please email TanyaFitzgerald@carersinfo.org.uk or call 020 8649 6280.
